For the safety and health of everyone during the COVID-19 outbreak, we are continuing to offer worship online.

Our Giving Tree Bookstore and Gift Shop has also suspended operation at this time and will reopen when we receive word that it is safe to do so. If you are looking for reading, study, or devotional materials, we have online and downloadable faith formation resources available.

On Sunday September 6, we will offer an outdoor worship service on the lawn at 8:15am. For the health of all worshipers, we ask that you follow important safety protocols: bring your own chair, wear a mask, practice social distancing, offer no-contact greetings (hand over your heart), and please stay home if you are feeling ill or are vulnerable to contracting the virus. More information is here.

We are hosting services online via Livestream on our Worship Now page. Both live and archived services are available. Our Contemporary Service will be streamed live at 9:30am Sundays. Our Traditional Service will be streamed live at 11:00am Sundays.

Giving life to missions is the mission statement of the “Our Giving Tree” Bookstore and Gift Shop. The shop is entirely volunteer-staffed. Stop in and browse unique and hand-crafted fair-trade items from around the world and American-made items, too. Home and kitchen decor, hand-made dish ware, baskets, jewelry, scarves, handbags, delicious chocolates and gourmet coffees are just a few of the items you will find. You can feel good about your purchase knowing that it improves the lives of artisans and farmers from around the world since all proceeds go to missions. Over $24,000  has been given to missions since the store’s opening in 2009.

“Our Giving Tree” is located at First United Methodist Church (72 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, 33801).  The store is on the left in the Welcome Center on the first floor of the C Building. For easiest access, turn onto Vistabula Street and park in the lot across from the Sorosis Building. Parking is convenient and free.

Mr. Ellie Pooh®

Since 1950, over 4,000 wild elephants have been killed in Sri Lanka not by poachers in search of ivory or meat but by farmers because of damage the elephants caused to crops as they searched for food. As a way to bridge the gap between the elephants and local farmers, Dr. Karl Wald founded Mr. Ellie Pooh, a line of 100% recycled paper products sustainably made from 50% post consumer fiber and 50% elephant dung. Thoroughly cleaned and processed, the result is a uniquely beautiful linen-like paper. In our bookstore, you can find notepaper, memo pads, stationery, bookmarks and notebooks. Serrv

Serrv believes artisans and farmers around the world should have the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and support their families through fair payments and respectful relationships. As a result, every product they offer has a story behind it of an empowered artisan or farmer who works in a safe environment, is able to send his or her children to school and can save for the future with reliable income. In our bookstore, you can find Serrv jewelry, linens, serving dishes, garden decor, home decor, scarves and accessories. For more information about Serrv, click here.
